Why Special Education Perspectives?

Special Education Perspectives is all about
 what is working for students
 with special needs.  

Special Education Perspectives was born from a collaborative moment of colleagues trying to find resources for teachers and families.  That's it.  Just trying to find resources.  However, as I began my search and found what others were doing and saying, all the resources were scattered.  Even my efforts to pull things together led to no fewer than 3 clicks of links.  Too many online locations for similar content.

Special Education Perspectives is designed to be a gateway of practice, strategies, tools, resources, and any other tips and tricks I think of and use along the way to give students, teachers, and families assistance in education.

I am an educator.  I teach others.  Period.  

I teach: behavior curriculum technology social skills modifications accessibility disabilities abilities engagement collaboration instructional practices other duties as assigned????

I have taught with: infants toddlers prek kindergarten third grade high school general education deaf education self contained life skills teachers & faculty administrators parents, families, & community agencies

I am currently the preschool special education consultant at an education service center in Texas.  I am responsible for creating and providing professional development and technical assistance to schools, families, and agencies in our area.    

I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful boys currently 3 and 10 months.  My priorities are simple God, Family, Me- except when they get all mixed up and I begin to put other things first.... I am sure NO ONE ELSE EVER does that??  We live just outside the city in the country and it is pretty special for this city girl....
